Warm Weather Organizing Plans and Label Give-Away

Today is one of my favorite holidays: Ground Hog Day. I just think it's so ridiculous that there is a day in honor of a sleepy rodent AND it's the basis for weather prediction. Only in America.

In St. Louis the weather was cold and gray - no chance for the groundhog to see his shadow. The St. Louis groundhog is not cheerful when he wakes up from a good hibernation so the our zoo officials let the local groundhog sleep in. Now I'm not sure if spring is around the corner or if we're doomed to freeze a little longer.

How I long for spring. In addition to some fine gardening plans to put in place, I want to organize our garage and basement. After remodeling the house and having the basement floor jack-hammered to put in some new pipes, our basement and garage are a mess. In addition to being messy, it's very cold down there. Warm weather will make the task so much more pleasant.

Do you have some warm weather organizing plans? I'd love to hear them. And if you have a question about those plans, share that too. Just reply to this post. I'll answer as many questions as I can.

Does the whole house count as an organizing project?

Oh the basement! I have long ago lost hope for a basement like the pictures in the magazines. It would be nice to walk through it without stubbing my toe though.

Oh I wish I had a basement! My organizing goal is my living/dining room and living room closet. Then the master bedroom. And keep everything else from going south while I work on those -LOL

Paper paper paper!! I have a great scanner I bought a couple of years ago for this very purpose, but like shredding, I tend to let it pile up before acting on it.

For shredding it's not too bad, because I put it in a basket that's hidden on top of the shredder, which is behind a chair.

For every day paper I need to keep, I have let the pile build to the point of overwhelming.

To handle it I'm buying a new desk and will leave the scanner sitting out to entice me to scan more often. Not aesthetically pleasing but better than piles-o-paper.

I thought I had a good paper management system but apparently not...

This give-away is now closed. Congratulations to Kathleen T who was selected as the winner by the random number generator.

Thank you everyone for participating. And a special thanks to UPinting.com for sponsoring this give-away.

Everyone has great warm weather organizing plans. It seems that our basements are driving many of us nuts. According to Feng Shui, an uncluttered basement is the foundation of an uncluttered life.

Marie/y's comment almost completely matched what I friend told me this morning. She was lamenting the state of her paper. About 95% of my clients ask for help with paper - it's a huge challenge.
